“The painting we are using for our album cover was done by Brittany Pyle in a college painting course. She told us initially that it was a piece influenced by Pop art, but didn’t mention anything about her source image. After we received the email from Shelley Lee I talked to Brittany again and she told me that she hadn’t appropriated from Lichtenstein. Her professor had instructed the class to do an appropriation piece, and Brittany chose the same original graphic novel piece that Roy Lichtenstein used when he created his piece Kiss V:

Finally, here is Brittany’s piece:
So, the question is do we not use Brittany’s painting, the piece that 18 months of design work have been crafted around, because the Manager of Intellectual Property of a famous Pop artist who also appropriated from the same source image says we can’t? Brittany’s painting certainly appears to be an appropriation of the uncopyrighted(?) graphic novel piece as opposed to an “adapted…Roy Lichtenstein image” as Ms. Lee has stated. We haven’t pressed the album yet, so we just need to know whether or not we CAN use the image based on its appropriative properties. What IS the answer here??????

*It’s an all day event(10am-10pm) with bands and DJs taking turns, and the wonderful
screenprinting of our friend Jillian Nickell hanging all over the store*

2-2:30pm – Parasol Records In-store (303 W. Griggs, Urbana)
*Because it’s Record Store Day Parasol decided to put out six 7″ vinyl singles of
Parasol Label Group’s touringest bands: Elsinore, Common Loon, Cameron McGill &
What Army, New Ruins, Mazes, & Unbunny. Buy them all at Parasol during the show
for $20. Our single will be on sale at all shows and in our web-store for $5 from
here on out*

4-5pm – The Champaign Public Library
*The library wanted something hip & something good for the whole family to
celebrate The Boneyard Arst Festival. They wanted us. We hope this is just
the beginning of something big & beautiful in our new library*

9pm-Midnight – Somebody Else’s House (house show: 605 W. Clark, Champaign)
*9pm: Mazes (this band includes members of the 1900′s, they’re from Chicago,
and are also on Parasol Records)
10pm: The Palace Flophouse (local and lovely)
11pm: we play and round out the night and one giant day of music

That’s right! We finally found a home for Yes Yes Yes with our long time friends at Parasol Records here in Champaign-Urbana. So, there’s a lot to be excited about as we start planning release shows, radio & press campaigns, and more national touring. Keep an eye out for more updates and previews/free things involved with the new album, i.e. remixes, duffle bags, fanny packs, stretch pants. You know, the usual. We’ve been home and recharging for almost a month now, but we’re ready for more Midwest touring to build momentum for the new record.

_RECORD STORE DAY – 7″ Vinyl / 4 SHOWS IN ONE DAY_

As you can see above we have a mighty Spring planned already, including Saturday, April 17th, which is Record Store Day!

We’ll release a vinyl 7″ with Parasol that includes two live recordings from February’s big tour. And, we’ll do something we’ve never done before to release it in style, which is to play four, count’em FOUR shows in one day! But, that’s what happens when you live in a city that loves music and the people who make it. Thank you, CU. Speaking of that…here’s something you should check into. These are things that make us happy, and we hope they make you happy too.

We’ve had a few great shows in the past two weeks to get us back in the touring spirit, including opening for St. Vincent again! She and her band were right here in Champaign-Urbana and it was a beautiful night. Please keep telling everyone you know about this music we’re making and all of these things we’re doing. It’s so heartwarming to meet people at shows and see posts online from people who say they have a friend who told them to look into our band. This is how we’ll keep doing all of this crazy business: with your love and support. Keep in close contact and keep coming to shows!
